Synopsis
Norval Greenwood, a privileged man-child arrives at the beautiful and remote coastal cabin of his estranged father, who he hasn't seen in 30 years. He quickly discovers that not only is dad a disapproving jerk, he also has a shady past that is rushing to catch up with him. Now, hundreds of miles from his cushy comfort zone, Norval must battle with demons both real and perceived in order to reconnect with a father he barely knows.

Some major movies hit streaming services this week, with Fantastic Mr. Fox debuting on Disney+, and Rocketman coming out on multiple services. I highly recommend both. There is also some original fair and some smaller releases that likely slipped beneath most people’s radar. Of these, The Lovebirds is the film I’m looking forward to the most. It was supposed to be a wide release in April, but it was one of the films affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, and was picked up by Netflix.

It is very rare for a horror film to lead the way on the theater average chart, but The Lodge did just that with an average of $12,709 in six theaters. The only other member of the $10,000 club was Cane River, which earned $10,240 in its lone theater.

It’s a short week for limited releases with only seven films in total. However, most of them are earning overwhelmingly positive reviews. Of these, Come to Daddy is the one I’m most interested in. That said, Legend of Deification stands out, because it is an animated Chinese film.
