Movie Website Updates for April 7 - April 13
April 13, 2006
Back to normal levels of traffic on this list, but like last week there's not an over abundance of huge sites on this week's list. I hope that changes soon as the summer box office season is just around the corner. The best of the bunch this week is Hard Candy - Official Site, which has been slowly growing for months.

No real changes since last week.
The site is down. I assume this is just a momentary problem and I'll check back later in the day. ... Yep, it's back.
Ramone and Flo were added to the site.
The TV Spot was added to the site, but I was not impressed. It spent too much time going over the famous cast of voice actors, which is a bad sign in my books. When it comes casting voice actors, too often talent takes a back seat to name recognition.
I don't think there was an update this week. I'm confused and disoriented. I think this is the first week without an update since the site went live six months ago.
The placeholder site was redesigned, slightly, and a Control Your Universe poster maker was added.
It's been a long time since this site had any updates, but this week nearly a dozen digital dailies were added. I'm still interested in how well this movie will do, but its claim as the first independent digitally animated movies is no longer accurate.
There was a complete redesign of the site this week, but it's still too early to tell if either the site or the movie will be any good. As always, I remain cautiously optimistic, but that page for partners makes me think the movie will be 90 minutes of product placement.
Couple of updates just in time for tomorrow's opening. Firstly, there's the Wear Red campaign to help promote online safety and awareness. A cause we can all agree is worthwhile. To show your support for this cause, please link to the official site with one of these logos. 196x285, 120x600, 300x250, 728x90, 160x600, 468x60, and 180x150. Secondly, we have been given a few clips to share with you, some of which are on the site, some of which are not: Mix It Myself, Jealous, Worship Me, Nosey Neighbor, First Meeting, Playtime is Over, The Pedophiles. All in all it is a great site and sells the film very well. Well enough, in fact, that it is the winner of the avenging Weekly Website Award.
All the usual features are here as well as two of the songs. Overall it's a good site, but there's not enough in the form of features that help it stand out.
The site deals more with the environment than it does with the movie and that makes a lot of sense. The trailer, which can be found on Apple.com is one of the most powerful trailers I've seen this year and the movie instantly became a must see.
The is not what you would call an overly flashy site, in fact, there's not much here just the synopsis, cast & crew bios, trailer and information on the soundtrack. But the trailer is effective enough to sell the film all by itself. At least is was with me.
No real content so far.
Simple site with all the usual features. There are some nice, small touches like the animations just after each section loaded.
Another behind-the-scenes featurette was added to the site, but I'm still not sold on the movie.
All the usual features for a documentary site are here, including an in-depth production diary, but there's nothing here that really sets it apart from other sites.
There was a change in format, but nothing new in content this week.
Two more confessionals were added this week including Body Double which deals in part with the difficulty in finding a body double with the same physique as Jack Black.
No changes in a month.
All the content that was marked coming soon last week was added this week, including the trailer.
All the regular features are here, including the cast bios twice. But there's not enough extras to set the film apart. I was especially disappointed at the lack of music.
There's a lot more content than usual for a Miramax site, but it doesn't come together has a cohesive whole.
The second floor was added for real this week, but like the first floor there's no real choice where you can go first, and then it crashed my browser.
The flash site launched this week and while I like the format, there's just not enough content to be an award-winning site. There's not even a lot here market coming soon, just some clips.
The movie isn't in theatres for another year, but the official site is up and active. Granted, there's no real content yet, but it's still up and getting the fanboys excited.
The Gym Slang Generator was added to the site this week. It gives the definitions to a dozen slang terms and shows a short clip of each one being used in the movie. Pretty good feature that helps improve the site.
All three games were added just in time for tomorrow's opening, but none were worth playing more than once.
Another piece of advanced buzz was added to the site this week.
