IFC/Acura Someone to Watch Award

The 12th annual Truer Than Fiction Award is presented to an emerging director of non-fiction features who has not yet received significant attention.

The 11th annual Producers Award honors emerging producers who, despite highly limited resources, demonstrate the creativity, tenacity, and vision required to produce quality, independent films.

Notes and Reactions...

  • Juno was the big winner taking home three awards including the most prestigious Best Picture award. Also winning were Ellen Page for Best Female Lead and Diablo Cody for Best First Screenplay.
  • However, none of these are good indicators for tonight's Oscars. Diablo Cody has the best shot to win, but that's as far as I will go in predictions for Juno.
  • On the other hand, Cate Blanchett's win as well as The Diving Bell and the Butterfly's two wins could be repeated tonight.
  • I am very happy for Chiwetel Ejiofor's win for Talk To Me. I can't imagine an Oscar nomination is too far away.
  • Likewise for the people who made The Lookout.
