International Top of the Chart - Night Rises

There was a tight race for top spot on the international chart with Night at the Museum - Battle for the Smithsonian overtaking Angels and Demons $38.26 million to $34.01 million.
A record-breaking opening in China helped Night at the Museum - Battle for the Smithsonian leap to first place with $38.26 million on 8,908 screens in 91 markets for a total of $106.76 million.
In that market, the film pulled in $7.4 million on 818 screens over the weekend, which is the best performance for Fox in China, and the best import for the year so far.
The film remained in first place in the U.K. with $3.37 million on 520 over the weekend for a total of $19.88 million after two.
It held on even better in Australia, falling just 29% to $2.72 million on 397 screens over the weekend for a total of $7.29 million.
The film remained in second place in Germany with $2.87 million on 733 screens over the weekend for a total of $8.26 million.
As for Angels & Demons, it was able to add $34.01 million on 10,469 screens in 70 markets for a total of $252.70 million internationally and $357.62 million worldwide.
The film is still in top spot in Germany with $5.34 million on 807 screens over the weekend for a total of $31.61 million after three, while it also finished first in Italy with $2.54 million on 687 screens and in Spain with $2.30 million on 683 screens.
In those two markets the movie has earned $20.87 million and $16.32 million respectively.
It slipped to second place in Japan, but was down just 21% to $3.11 million on 723 screens over the weekend and $22.43 million in total.
We will get to third place film, Terminator - Salvation, and the rest of the multi-million dollar movies on Sunday.
