It's the first week of the month and there is a wide variety of releases worth checking out, but not exactly a strong selection of best sellers. The biggest first-run release is Dark Shadows and while I'm looking forward to possibly reviewing the Blu-ray Combo Pack, I don't think it will be a huge hit. New Girl: Season One and The Princess Bride: 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray look great, but I'm waiting for the screeners to make final decisions. I won't get a chance to review Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection, but it is a contender for Pick of the Week. The winner of that honor is Cinderella Blu-ray, which is a classic, even if it is a little old-fashioned.

There are quite a few limited releases on this week's list, but few of them are earning overall positive reviews. In fact, only Monsieur Lazhar and Post Mortem are earning reviews above 80% positive, although Here is close to that mark. Additionally, the PG-13 cut of Bully is also coming out this week and it should be the biggest hit out of all of the limited releases.

Since there are no wide releases this weekend, the box office will be looking to limited releases to help boost the numbers. Last year the biggest release was The Warrior's Way, which made just over $3 million during its opening weekend. Obviously no limited release is going to match that this weekend. However, The Warrior's Way finished with less than $6 million and that figure might be within reach for a couple limited releases. Shame has the best shot at reaching that level of box office success, but Outrage is also earning great reviews.
