Hidden Finds Success

January 10, 2006

Cache (Hidden) shot back to the top of the per theatre charts thanks to a tiny 4.68% decline, as the film earned an average of $13,851 in its 5 theatres. Second place went to Fateless with $12,680 in its lone theatre, while Brokeback Mountain maintained is per theatre average with $11,856 despite a very healthy growth in its theatre count. Word of mouth is helping Transamerica, as the film climbed above the $10,000 mark for the first time in a few weeks. It saw its average grow to $10,191.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theatre Charts alumni:

  • Match Point exploded into almost 300 more theatres, and that helped it hit $3 million over the weekend. With a nearly $9,000 per theatre average, the film should be able to expand even more.
  • Casanova also expanded, and that helped it reach $4 million over the weekend (and $5 million by Monday). Unlike the previous film, this one won't be able to expand by any significant amount.
  • Brokeback Mountain topped $15 million midweek and $20 million during the weekend. The film has already earned enough to pay for its production budget, and with the number of awards and nominations it is earning, it should have little trouble showing a profit by the time its domestic run is over.
