DVD Rentals - Waitress is Making a Living on the Home Market

Only one new releases managed to reach the top five leaving Live Free or Die Hard with a clear number one finish adding $10.26 million to its total of $22.68 million after two weeks of release. Shrek the Third climbed into second place with $7.44 million over the week for a total of $27.55 million. Waitress was the best of the new releases placing third with $6.81 million or more than a third of what it made theatrically. Hairspray fell from second to fourth with $6.68 million, which was down an unusually large 30 over its opening. The final film in the top five was Ocean's Thirteen, which added $5.32 million to its total of $19.72 million.

The best of the rest was Mr. Bean's Holiday with a ninth place $3.94 million opening, which was just ahead of The Namesake and its $3.92 million opening. Hot Rod placed 13th with $3.42 million while I Know Who Killed Me landed in 15th place with $2.61 million. Who's Your Caddy? earned $2.41 million in rentals during its opening week placing 19th along the way while Bratz: The Movie could do no better than 27th place with $1.48 million.
