Weekend Estimates - Rush Hour Causes Modest Congestion at Movie Theaters
August 13, 2007
Rush Hour 3 made a big first step in paying back its huge production budget over the weekend, opening with just over $50 million, according to studio estimates.
That's the second-best opening by a movie in the franchise, and some way behind the $67 million enjoyed by Rush Hour 2 six years ago.
It certainly looks extremely unlikely there will be a fourth movie in the series.
Stardust made a decent opening in 4th place, with an estimated $9 million, but that probably won't be enough to ensure an expansion from its 2,500 theaters.
