Movie Website Updates for April 8 - April 14, 2007
April 14, 2007
I've decided to try this column on Saturdays for a bit to see if it is a better fit. I'll try it for a couple weeks before settling on the move. If you want to add your voice to the decision making process, feel free to e-mail me on the subject, my address is below.
Even with the extra day, it was a slow week for websites. There were a couple films to have their full sites go live this week, but in both cases there was a lack of features. The best of the list is Pathfinder - Official Site, but it's not up to the level of an award winner.

Nothing new this week. It's a very fun site, but I don't think it will sell the movie to anyone who isn't already a fan of the show.
Two interview clips were added to the site, one with the voice of Lucifer, (Tim Curry), and the other with the three women, (Danielle Fishel, Traci Lords, and Laura Prepon).
A TV-spot and a trailer for the video game was added to the site.
A couple of videos were added to the site, including the entire first film spend up to last just 2.5 minutes.
Overall a good site with enough interactivity to stand out, but not enough to make the site award-worthy.
This site has all the usual features, but not enough style to set it apart. There's enough text based extras to keep surfers here for awhile, (I especially like the MPAA and the movie poster, it's short but says a lot).
The site has been completely redone and it is now either a top-notch placeholder site, or a rather unimpressive full site. The only regular features here so far are the synopsis, bios, and trailer with a game marked coming soon and a bunch of banners to help advertise the film.
A wiki for the Silver Surfer was added to the site. I like this idea as it could help those less familiar with the Fantastic Four mythology get caught up before the movie.
The site is down. I'll check back later to see if it's back. ... Still not up. Hopefully it will return for next weekend.
Not much here, and what is here is probably not safe for work.
The trailer is online. ... Well, at least Jessica Alba looks really good in the movie. And compared to Dane Cook and Dan Fogler, she's an Oscar caliber actress.
Just the synopsis and the trailer. The trailer started out funny with the, "I came in a limousine," verbal riposte, but then it quickly sank into an Us vs. Them with the entertainers complaining about the mean people who don't think they are funny. There are some legitimate complaints that can be made here, but if you use Uwe Boll has someone who is being unfairly attacked by critics, you don't have an argument.
On the one hand, I like the wobbly words on the menu. On the other hand, it does make it a little hard to read the menu items. It adds good style to the site, but at a minor cost to usability. Over there's enough content here, including several audio clips, and is worth checking out.
Just the basics, and even then there are no bios. Nothing here makes it stand out.
Flash site is up, but there's almost nothing here. There's just the synopsis, image gallery and the trailer with the bios, production notes, videos and blog marked coming soon.
Just the poster, but the trailer can be found here.
One of the best sites on this week's list, but I'm still not sure if it's award worthy. I like the clips, the background information, and the game. But I can't say it adds up to enough.
Like Disturbia above, this site has good interactivity but not enough content to be award-worthy.
Just the synopsis and trailer.
Just a re-direct to the MySpace page. I hate MySpace pages, they look ugly and lack individuality.
Just a placeholder site with no real content.
No updates, which means cast is still marked coming soon.
Just a re-direct to the YouTube clip with Christins Ricci talking about her role as Trixie.
The bios have been added and so have more videos / bog entries.
A couple more images were added to the site.
There's just an error message. ... It's back.
