Kit Still Making News on the Per Theater Chart

July 1, 2008

Kit Kittredge: An American Girl repeated on top of the per theater chart this week, pulling in close to $110,000 in 5 theaters for an average of $21,404. However, that was more than 50% less that its opening weekend average, which is a sharp drop-off for a limited release. The Last Mistress opened in second place with an average of $16,777 in two theaters. Two wide releases were neck-and-neck with Wanted earning an average of $16,040 and WALL-E right behind with $15,803.

The best of the rest of the new releases was Trumbo, which just missed the $10,000 mark with an average of $9,375. Elsa & Fred was not as strong with $5,400 while Full Grown Men struggled with $3,757 in its lone theater. Thirteen theaters proved unlucky for Finding Amanda, which earned an average of $2,411. 83 was even unluckier for Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic as the Bollywood flick pulled in $182,000 in total for an average of $2,188. Gunnin' for that #1 Spot fell well short with just $1,277 while Red Roses and Petrol failed to crack 4 digits with an average of $857.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Sarkar Raj reached $1 million over the weekend, but that's as far as it will go.
  • Mongol had its best weekend of its run so far and that helped it reach $2 million in total.
