DVD Rentals - Fallen on Top
November 3, 2009
It was almost a slow week for new releases, sort of. Granted, we had the biggest movie of the year come out on the home market, but that was practically the only release of note. That release, Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen, easily won the race to top the rental chart with nearly three times the rentals as The Proposal managed during its second week of release.
Land of the Lost and Year One were in a virtual tie for third place. Meanwhile, Drag Me To Hell remained in fifth place.
The Tournament opened in seventh place, while the only other new release to chart was Wrong Turn 3 in 14th place.
Overall the rental market pulled in $163.1 million in total rentals, which was 27% higher than last week and 31% higher than the same weekend last year. That's quite a rebound from the nearly 12% year-to-year drop-off the rental market suffered through last week.
