Awards Season: WGA Social Secures Another Win
February 5, 2011
WGA handed out its awards this weekend, and while there were many winners, only three categories were for theatrical releases.
The categories and nominations are...
ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
DOCUMENTARY SCREENPLAY
Notes and Reactions...
- Christopher Nolan won for Inception, which was his first guild award ever. However, while this improves his chances at the Oscars, he will have to compete with The King's Speech, which was ruled ineligible for the WGAs. The latter is likely a slight favorite.
- The Social Network, on the other hand, has a better shot at repeating on Oscar night, despite the competition from Winter's Bone, and Toy Story 3.
- Finally, Inside Job went from clear favorite to win the Oscar to overwhelming favorite.
