Dora The Explorer is one of the most prolific shows for preschoolers with countless DVDs coming out. The latest one is Dora's Royal Rescue, which only has two episodes, but one of them is a double-length adventure. Is that enough to make the DVD worth picking up?
There are no extras on the DVD. However, the DVD comes with a coloring / activity book. It's two-dozen pages long with some puzzles based on events from the show and a lot to color, so it should keep kids entertained for a bit.
Dora The Explorer: Dora's Royal Rescue is typical of the new Dora the Explorer releases. There are only three episodes and no extras. The price-per-minute is a little high compared to some of the other releases, but at just $10, it's not a bad deal.
The Show
Dora, Boots, Isa, Benny, Tico are all reading about medieval knights and they are so excited to learn about armor and castles that they burst into song. However, Rocinante the horse comes running up to them and tells them he needs the help of a brave knight, Dora. She tries to explain she's not really a knight and that her friends were just pretending, but he's convinced she's the real deal. He even magically gives her armor. He needs her help to rescue his knight, Don Quixote. A mean wizard, Malambruno, stole their books and captured Don Quixote. Dora and Boots agree to help with Dora riding Rocinante and very quickly Boots gets a steed of his own, Dapple, the arachnophobic donkey. Malambruno is determined to steal all of the books in the magic kingdom.
Don Quixote returns and is reading stories to Dora and Boots. When Boots wishes to be a knight, Rocinante and Dapple show up asking to be knights as well. In order to become knights, they need to help someone. Fortunately they find a princess who needs help, but before they can help her, they have to get to her. The Extras
