Another week without a marquee first run release.
There are three movies that had wide releases in theaters on the list, which is not an abnormally low number, but not one of them is even worth renting.
However, there are some limited releases, classic releases and TV-on-DVD releases that are certainly worth checking out.
The best of these is The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters - Buy from Amazon - which is our DVD Pick of the Week.

The Darjeeling Limited was the top pick for limited releases over the weekend, earning nearly $140,000 in just two theaters for an average of $67,469.
This is the best opening for a Wes Anderson film since The Royal Tenenbaums, at least in terms of raw dollars, and this film still earned a better average.
Second place went to Lust, Caution with $63,918, which is one of the best averages we've seen all year.
Into the Wild performed marvelously during its expansion this past weekend, earning an average of $19,135 in 33 theaters.
On the other hand, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford fell nearly 40% without any expansion; it still earned an average of $18,470 in five theaters, but I was expecting more given its start.
Finally, Itty Bitty Titty Committee opened with $11,505 in its lone theater.

Another slow week, but at least we have a clear contender for the Weekly Website Award. That site is The Kingdom - Official Site, which combines all the usual features with a good mix of extras as well as enough sound and animation to keep surfers interested.

A couple more award season hopefuls debut this week, including one of the most talked about releases of the season, Lust, Caution. It will be interesting to see if its NC-17 rating will prevent it from earning mainstream success, or even turn off award voters.

Another week without any top-notch websites, at least one that hasn't previously won the award. At least there are a few with possibilities and the fall blockbusters should start coming launching their sites shortly so the pace should pickup soon.

As we enter the slowest month of the year, the number and quality of website updates has slowed to a crawl as well. I suspect that within a few weeks we will start getting website launches for films opening during the holidays, and that will again give us plenty of award-worthy sites.

Good week for websites with a number of candidates for the top spot. In the end I went with
Ghost Rider -
Official Site, but there's a few others here that will undoubtedly win in the coming weeks.

Another big week for movie sites with several excellent entries. In this crowded field there were a lot of sites that showed promise and could be just one big update away from winning the award. But this week the best of the best was
World Trade Center -
Official Site. Let's hope that the movie can live up to the site.
