After Avatar dominated last week's list, the selection of releases this week is not any better. There are only two first run releases of note, It's Complicated on DVD and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus on Blu-ray, while there are a few smaller releases that are also worth picking up. To find the Pick of the Week, however, we have to travel back in time as a couple of late releases finally found their way to my desk this week. Those late releases are Defendor (Buy from Amazon: DVD or Buy from Amazon.ca: Blu-ray) and Yesterday Was A Lie (DVD) and they share the Pick of the Week honors.

District 13: Ultimatum is the sequel to District 13, a film arguably best known for introducing Parkour to the general public. (Although many people in this market probably saw it first in Casino Royale.) The first film earned excellent reviews thanks a lot to the unique look of Parkour. Since this is a sequel, it won't have the same novelty factor. But can it thrive on its own merits?

The The Red Riding Trilogy opened on top of the per theater chart with $14,526 in one theater, but that was all three shows for one ticket. On the one hand, the higher ticket price would help its average. On the other hand, the long running time is a large impediment. Ajami opened in second place with an average of $11,931 while Terribly Happy was just behind with $11,650. The overall box office leader, Dear John, was the final film to reach the $10,000 mark with an average of $10,262.

With Oscar nominations announced earlier this week, most of the buzz is with previous limited releases expanding, including Up in the Air, Precious, Crazy Heart, etc. There are still a few releases on this week's list, but it is likely that they will all be overshadowed by the holdovers.
